We all know the IPhone 8 will have an OLED Display. OLED is amazing and Apple knows it that's why they switched. But OLED is not withou it's drawbacks, one of which is Burn In. Caused by static images on screen like A clock or icons. We have all seen the threads when people have a slightly yellowish or off color IPhone 7 display. Well OLED suffers from more color variations we will see numerous threads of Owners complaining that their IPhone 8 is "yellow" or whites are the wrong color.

How might Apple change its policy regarding display covering these display defects ?

To answer your questions:

1. I doubt that AppleCare will cover burn-in unless it is to the point that it hinders use of the phone. They might exchange for a white box within the 1-year warranty, but it will likely depend on the Genius as to whether you'll get the exchange. Zero chance they will exchange outside one year for burn-in.

2. Yes, there will be many threads complaining about color temperature and burn-in over the first few months. I doubt, however, they will be as prevalent as the "WORST LAUNCH EVER" threads from people who ordered 10 minutes after the store came back up and got 6-8 week delivery dates.

OLED/AMOLED screens are not sufficiently advanced yet - all Samsung smartphones including latest S8 suffer from severe burn in. OLED/AMOLED screens also deteriorate with time. Would you spend $1,000 on the new iPhone if the screen gets worse with time and suffers from burn in / image retention? I really hope Apple sticks to LED or micro-LED.
