There seems some truth to that, look at these photos:

Only the two operations guys lean to the haggard side.

A separate question: Do most large companies actually have a COO? In the US, corporate structure seems less clearly defined than in other countries which might legally require certain positions.

Ive is serious business in that photo.

Big question is, who is doing the keynotes, Schiller or Cook?

I know it isn't likely, but I actually think Scott Forstall would be a great choice. He used to be really awkward when speaking but he's really improved. He has that same sort of excitement about what he's showing that Steve always has. If you compare Scott's recent speaking with what I personally think is Steve's best keynote, the iPhone introduction, I think there are definitely some similarities between them.

I bet it will be another gay person. You know, cause Tim Cook is gay. You knew that right?

*sigh*

Why the sigh?

Other than the fact that Tim Cook is a wonderful role model for youth questioning their sexuality - what difference does it make if the CEO/COO/CTO/CFO or any of the other C-level executives are gay?

By the way, I know of at least half a dozen other C-level execs here in the valley that are openly gay and out. It's really inconsequential - but having the CEO of Apple be "one of the club" is really quite interesting.

I hope that the moderators let this "Tim Cook is gay" nonsense work itself out over the weekend, and on Monday create a 'bot that immediately deletes any post with "Tim Cook is gay" in it. It makes those of us of the rainbow stripe feel good, but it has nothing to do with Tim Cook, Apple, or the last CEO (I've already forgotten his name).

And on Monday my "gay Apple" avatar goes back to the Maine Coon. ;)

Hahahaha! Talk about not getting the joke. Yes, everything you said is correct. What you didn't get was that a previous thread discussed his orientation ad nausium...despite it being totally irrelevant.

FYI, the sigh implied sarcasm. ;)

Unfortunately, "implied" can be lost in simple UNICODE text blocks - the sigh could have been frustration or sarcasm (I took it as the former).

Adding an "end sarcasm" tag (e.g. </sarcasm>) would have prevented my misinterpretation of your post.

I'm sorry that I missed it, because it was good sarcasm.

I have decided that this is just Apple's way of distracting people while they delay the iPhone 5 even more. If a prototype gets lost again, I am pretty sure Steve will "go into a comma" or something.

That punchline needs spellcheck. Period.

:p

It seems a particular hairstyle is also necessary for positions requiring exposure to the public.

The next COO may not be the next in line

Everyone seems to overlook the man responsible for the main differentiating aspect of Apple’s products. That man is Steve Forstall and his iOS.

Apple has a succession plan and the next COO may not be the next CEO. Anyway, the future can be a long way away.

I really can't believe it was not pointed out before now. I will be the first to admit that I am a terrible speller, but I guess that makes me a little more like Einstein. The dyslexia does not help either.

Will Apple's Executive Shuffle Bring in New Chief Operating Officer?

No. (in my opinion).
Simple answer. Cook was pretty much CEO in all but title for a long time now. Hence the COO title. But now Cook is the actual CEO there's no need for a COO. If Apple though want to make a new COO to help out Cook sure. But for the time being I don't think Apple will.
