New jailbreak is out

New jailbreak is out that will let you use unsigned mobileconfig files, which will allow tethering. Just use that. I was waiting for it to upgrade from 3.0, and now it's out.
There is no good reason why one shouldn't jailbreak the iphone, none.

No actually I am arguing against you and your no reason, at&t should charge people more, so they make money money argument.

Fact is when you tether the iPhone simply goes into pass-through mode. Your service, speed, cap, etc. is exactly the same as what you are paying for.

1st - I never advocated for ATT charging more or not tethering. I simply stated reasons as to why they wouldn't allow tethering at the moment and why they would charge more if they were going to allow it.

2nd - Use any example of iPhone tethering that you want, it's not going to change all the reasons why ATT doesn't want to allow it at the moment.

3rd - Since you obviously can't be bothered to go back and read what I've written I'll quote myself:
I understand your argument just fine, and agree that it shouldn't count as another "data fee" since only one device is in use at a time, but obviously ATT doesn't see it that way at all.

Therefore if I agree with you, and you're still arguing with me, you're just arguing with yourself.

So they would in fact be giving data away "for free" because you're not paying the data fee for the other device.

Are you saying you would pay another data fee in order to tether?

That is advocating for ATT to double-book you on data because you are implying that is what they should do.

Seriously Ryeno?
Me explaining why ATT would double-book does not imply I think they should in anyway whatsoever. Period.
Me asking someone if they would pay the "double-booking" fee does not imply I think ATT should in anyway whatsoever. Period.
Me saying I don't think ATT should, does not imply that I think they should in anyway whatsoever. Period.

It's obvious you're just wanting to argue for argument's sake, and I wish you well with that. In the mean time, perhaps you could answer the question to the thread "Will at&t ever provide official iphone tethering services in 2010?"

IMO at this point they're probably saving tethering as the "big new feature" for whatever new iPhone comes out this summer. There's really no reason for them not to allow it that I can see. The tethering model is already in place with Blackberrys and other smartphones, and even there it's something that very few people use.

You can forget about "free" tethering also. If they're going to let iPhone users tether without paying extra, they'll have to do it for the other smartphones as well. They won't let that much extra money go unless something forces them to.
