So that means since I am due for AT&T next upgrade soon, that I will be able to purchase it through Apple?

What if I have one payment left (due to billing cycles)? Would Apple know that?

How would the trade-in thing work for it if I did it through Apple?

What if I'm only eligible to upgrade if I pay the price on the AT&T website, with a device trade in? Would I still be able to pre-order the 6s and trade in the 6 somehow?

There's a neat trick where you can make yourself eligible online. I just did it so I'm ready to pre-order on Saturday at 2 am central time.

Go into your account online and go to upgrade the line you say has one payment left. Go through the whole process of saying you want to upgrade and will pay the $X amount to be eligible for a trade-in upgrade (this means choosing the new phone you want to "upgrade" to. I chose the 6+ it doesn't matter because you're not actually going to upgrade, just pay to be eligible).

You'll come to a page where you first have to pay the remaining amount to upgrade separately. Make that payment and then cancel out of the potential upgrade...wait a minute and then go back into the main page of your account. That line should show as eligible for upgrade.

You're ready to pre-order.

I tried the AT&T chat function, but the guy had no idea what I was talking about when I asked if I could pay the remaining amount ($42) in order to be eligible to pre-order the new 6s+.

But you're not trading it in, right?

Yes, I am. I'm eligible for the trade-in upgrade through AT&T, but I will be pre-ordering using the Apple Store app. What'll happen when you pre-order is that when you receive the phone, you'll also receive a shipping label (and box) to send your old device back in. You have 10 days from the time you receive the new phone to send back the old one.

Oh, okay. I think I might do the same. I just have to decide if I'll get the 6s or not...

I think it'd be smart, if you're going to get the 6s or 6s+, to do the 12 month Next plan. That way when the inevitably amazing 7 comes out, you're ready to upgrade. :)

I was on the fence about the upgrade, but I think it'll be worth it.
