im considering buying the 3 maybe the third week after the 16th (launch). Week of March 26th or April 2nd... from last years memories, would BB have it in stock? or do reservations still play?

Stock in 19th

I went to BB today. I was told they won't have stock of the new iPad until the 19th. Not sure if it was only in my nearest BB or in all of them. No word on pre-orders either, they told me to come around 5 days prior the 19th to ask.

My store will be getting them dropped shipped on the 16th. We will (and I believe all other stores will do this as well) be ticketing them that day, like we do on Black Friday.

After available stock is depleted, we'll do "preorders", which really should be called reservations, which will be for new stock once it comes in.

Thanks for the info. Do you know around how many stock will be available? Also, at what time do you think the tickets will be handed?

On iPad 2 launch day, I got to Best Buy at 10 AM, the iPad went on sale at 5 PM so 7 hours later, I was 3rd in line. So there are people who will be there many hours before launch.

FWIW, Best Buy's own site says in stores on the 16th.

Sorry. :) I just happened to go there yesterday and noticed it.

How anti-MR of you to actually go to the website of the company the question is about. Actual information spoils all the fun of the competing opinions on what they will or won't do.

You guys are right. I'll take my logic and show myself to the door. :D

I'm glad to hear that BB will have them on the 16th. Now my question is when on that day will they be available? It is being rumored that Apple stores will sell on opening that day.
If dropped shipped on the 16th then BB won't have them ticketed until around noon?
inquiring minds want to know!

I have a 16GB on pre-order from Apple, but I may upgrade to the 32GB (using BB credit, 18 months no interest).

I won't be able to go early as I have to wait for FedEx to deliver my 16GB one first...

Go to FedEx's site and have them hold it for you. You could then pick it up once you leave BB.

Yes and so will Wal-mart atleast in my town. How did you get $450 gift card, was it for your 06 macbook? Does best buy, buy old labtops? I have like 07 or 08 asus and macbook that both kinda suck where would I get serious cash for them:D

BB will be getting their shipment of iPad's later on in the afternoon, they are shipped to location on the same day.

It's going to be a madhouse on Friday, it's unfortunate for the people who wait in line all day and turns out we won't have any more. At this point, I doubt there will be any pre-orders.

I hear people have started camping at some stores ;)

Well I hope they have them on launch. I want to get my iPad from there. If I didn't have a gift card for best buy I would just go to a apple store

I would expect the ticketing process to begin shortly before stores open on the 16th, given that we aren't expecting to receive any for-sale iPads until 11AM at the earliest.

Stock will be very limited, my store is in a relatively small market, and I expect us to be finished ticketing within minutes - not because of lack of people, but constrained stock.
