That would br sweet, but I'm thinking "no." Still being on 3.0, I'm guessing I'd have to track down an unmodded 3.1 .ipsw and install that before running this new jailbreak, since updating in itunes now will get me 3.1.2.

As far as I'm concerned, the reason he is releasing blackra1n is for users to jailbreak with 3.1.2.

Been following his twitter, and could be sometime this weekend! His twitter is @geohot.

Why

Ask a question that can't be fully answered? Geo doesn't even have blackra1n working for 3.1 yet he is close but still working on it! Since 3.1.2 just came out yesterday I think he will worry about 3.1 first then see if the exploits are the same.

Ok, this is encouraging...from geohot's twitter:

"phew, dodged a bullet with 3.1.2...still vulnerable and blackra1n worked perfectly on my 3gs"

Exactly! Stay updated with it, I'm hoping it will be out this weekend though or sometime next week.

He bit off a big challenge, one JB tool that works on all 7 types of iPods and iPhones.

We will see if he completely succeeds..

I assume it doesn't work so "perfectly" if it isn't released yet.

A program can be perfectly functional and but not be ready for release due to stability issues or the desire to add more features. He's trying to jailbreak all 7 types of iDevices.
