So I have been mightily impressed by the battery life on my X - I think as good if not better than I had on 7 Plus.

However, with the advent of wireless charging and fact that I now have a QI charger on my desk, will the fact that my phone is always on the charger (when Im not on calls!) (or rather constantly on and off the charger!) do any damage to the battery?

No more or less than if you were plugging a cable in.
When the battery is full it’ll stop charging. If it drops down again while still on the charger it’ll be so close to full that it’s a slow trickle charge.

There’s nothing to worry about, it’s what they’re designed for.

No.
