I find it funny about the complaining of swiping up when back before Touch ID or Face ID, you had slide to unlock.

You had to slide to unlock and enter your passcode. And even if you didn’t have a passcode, guess what you still had to slide to unlock. No different than swiping up.

But now people want to whine as if it’s such a chore

FaceID on the XS Max is so fast that I barely have to touch and move my thumb up for the screen to open. I don’t even call what I do a swipe.

I was very skeptical of this feature, but it’s nothing to quickly access your phone. Plus, I like seeing notifications right on the lock screen so I can decide if I want to jump to them or clear.

It would be a weird option to implement given the way notifications currently work.

If Apple were to enhance FaceID, they should increase the read area slightly. That way, if I were to put my iPhone on a desk I could still unlock it with my face without picking it up.

It's either implemented because it's the first time they're using FaceID and the experience needs to remain intuitive, or it's there because they feel like accidental unlocks could occur causing a lack of trust in their process for FaceID, which again is a huge risk with it being first gen for them and an importance put on it being as good as TouchID in every way.

But i don't want to go to the home screen when i look at my phone all the time, maybe i just want to see the notifications. with Touch ID before the buttonless iPhone 7, i would use my finger nail or pinky to press the home button to see my lock screen notifications.

This is a fatal flaw in the auto-open faceID idea. It torpedoes the notification system on iOS.

Having to swipe up to unlock was one of my slight annoyances when I first got my XS (along with no battery percentage indicator on the top bar). It’s really no big deal but it would be nice if apple gave you the choice. Apple claims iOS 13 face unlock is 30% faster which seems crazy to me as it is already nearly instantaneous in my experience.

Look man, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what you're requesting is a bad experience which breaks the notification functionality on the device.

They're not going to break their product.

Have a good one.

How would it break notifications? You can always swipe down to see what’s there.

Making it an option won’t break anything, those who are concerned about notifications can keep it off or they can add a timer delay that shows notifications and then automatically moves on opening if you don’t interact with the notifications.

They’ll work it out. Maybe we’ll get it in iOS 14, I see iOS 13 is already bringing a lot of features iFans claimed were never necessary but are now happy to see coming.

Gotta love tech!

So the hilarious part about this thread is that many who are against this feature being added do not seem to understand the word: Choice
Many of them seem to think that if Apple allows unlocking without swiping that THAT will be the only option but no, we just want the option to turn this On or Off. Simple.

Going to have a good look at the Jailbreak community, they always seem to put out stuff that Apple then makes features a year or two later anyway
