Hey guys,

I was wondering, I wanna record using garageband and I have a sawtooth. . . Will any generic 10 buck mic work with my sawtooths audio in? I tried a cheap one from my friends PC and it didnt work so I was wondering if I needed a special type or something. . . I really dont wanna spend more then like $25. Will any cheap brand mic work? Do I need any drivers?

That one has one of those "PlainTalk" line in ports, right? You would need a preamp of some sort (simple ones run around $10-15, the prices go waaaaay up from there). If you have a home tape deck or something like that with a mic port and line out, that could serve as your preamp.

One of those little USB adapters like an iMic would take care of the preamp problem, but even the basic ones cost more than the mic you have in mind.
