Hi

I have the last model MacBook (just discontinued for general purchase) and I could do with more RAM that its 2GB).

Can I get more installed at a UK Apple Store?

Thanks!

Actually, having just read through that stuff - it doesn't look so bad. Maybe I could do it.

Even if you don't want to do it, do you maybe know someone who can?
It will be cheaper, as Apple takes a premium on RAM and the work hour (which actually is just 10 minutes) will cost some shillings too.

It looks ok for me to do it. And I just checked the cost of RAM at Crucial which is very reasonable.

Thanks for your helpful advice!

I'm glad that you have decided to do it yourself - you won't regret it!

The money saved + feelings of accomplishment will make you enjoy your machine that much more.

I did a HDD to SSD upgrade as well as a 2GB --> 8GB RAM upgrade on my own..to perfection might I add, haha.

It is very doable, but I have put machines together since the 90s.
But if I had to change a spark plug, I might be lost. A tire is better. As long as I have enough gaffa tape, the car might run (I actually repaired my car with just gaffa (some cables) and it drove again).

It didn't come across as being harsh.

It wasn't harsh at all. Quite the contrary.

It was meant sarcastic, as sometimes I am a bit harsh, but only to questions which get repeated a lot, like "do I have a virus" or "my battery - is it ok?" and such.
But I slowly phased it out of my system, but if I am in a bad mood (or my flatmate is playing tennis with orgasmic players) I can get a bit rude. But mostly I am teasing (and get warned for, as teasing is not easily conveyed via writing and especially here, where there are so many newcomers per day.

Just be gentle to the RAM, and for that bit you don't have to be, be strong.

PS: Just look at my avatar.
