I know that Apple’s prices, even adjusted for inflation are far higher than Apple’s resurgence era under Jobs, but even still $3k for the base package seems like an awfully lot, even for Apple nowadays. I specifically recall a lot of rumors saying the original iPad was to be $1000 and it was half of that at $500.

Apple is trying to get into a market that is still incredibly niche compared to gaming consoles, PCs, phones etc and unless this is truly going to be marketed towards professionals only, I don’t buy that price. What’s stranger to me is the rumors that a mass consumer version wouldn’t hit until 2025.

I’ll make maybe a bold bet, but one I don’t think they’ll even reveal the price tomorrow. Two, it most definitely will be the most expensive headset out there (for comparison a PS5+PSVR2 combo comes out to roughly $1050) but I suspect once it’s all said and done the price will be closer to $2000, or even $1500.

I know for Apple it’s increasingly difficult to keep a lid on leaks, but this feels like one of those instances where Apple leaked bad info on purpose to try and give them back that awe factor that they rarely exude anymore.

Then again chances are I’m incredibly wrong. Regardless, I’ll come back to this thread tomorrow to see what if anything I said was right, and I’m interested and what everyone else thinks.

I don’t think we will know the price tomorrow, and I don’t even know if they will show a consumer product or a developer-only product. If it is the latter, price won’t be a big factor when it is released.

I haven’t been reading most of the recent articles on the topic because I want to be surprised — should be fun!

I can still recall the early moments of iPad rumors when they called it the iSlate. :1

I don't think this is going to be a particular affordable device but the rumours of the $3k start price seem to be expectation management by Apple. Lets say the device starts at $2k it will seem to be cheaper than many were expecting and up goes the stock price

It's going to be hard for this to gain traction at that price-point, especially as it isn't adding a lot of new functional vs. iPad/Mac/etc.

$3,500- for an M2 chip. No. It’s a rerun of the hobbled iPad1 and iPhone 1 rollouts. It will probably be usable on a M4… 2025.

I’d rather just spend the money on a large TV and upgraded sound system. At least I’ll be able to share the experience with friends and family.
I think that is the biggest issue...Also, this move seems so odd from Apple. Every time they jump into a new product category, they would wait until the technology becomes somewhat affordable for the masses and they leapfrog the competition by making a simple 'magical' device that was attainable.

This is not attainable...And it baffles me of the true benefit of the device. For example, the 3-D camera...If the moment was so precious to begin with, I wouldn't want to be isolated wearing my Apple Vision Pro to take a picture. I'd rather snap a photo with my phone and quickly tuck it away.

Ohhh... I get it "Tim, did you check the placement of the decimal point on those graphics? Something ain't right???"

It’s ok. Everyone will get a free 3D U2 concert with the device that they can’t delete. Bono screaming away in your lounge. What more could you want from a device?

I thought it was an interesting presentation. I wouldn’t mind having one of them, but would I be willing to part with $3,500 for one? It seems like a luxury, I don’t see very much there which I couldn’t do with my iMac without wearing a pair of goggles on my head.

Not worth $3500. They should have released it at $1500 to $1999. Now only wealthy people with money to burn can have it. I was an early adopter of Google glass and this is the last time I pay to be a beta tester.

$3,500! 🙈

Well, I didn't anticipate that. I predicted $1,999 (see another thread around MR somewhere). Figured it was the Apple iPad head fake all over again — leaking a bogus, inflated price, then wowing the masses with a “bargain”.

Nope! I was wrong, way wrong!

This is bad news. Sticker shock! A VR set for the 1%!

As if we all (well, most on MR)don't already spend too far much time with our heads buried in our electronic devices!

I’m still processing all of it. I think the iPhone at least at the time for me a that point of my life cost far to much but it was clearly the future. This…I need to read impressions and try it out first.
