As far as I am aware of, with MobileMe you can't sync anything besides mail.
iCal and Contacts can't be synced on a phone that does not run iOS.
This is also the main reason I am using Googlemail for my Contacts and Calendar because I can get that to work on my current Blackberry.
However, I am moving to a Windows Phone 7.5 phone and hoping I don't have to use this annoying way of being able to sync stuff to the phone.
I just want to use one solution instead of two.
