I have a 2010 MacBook Pro currently running OS 10.8 . I would like to upgrade, but I need to know if I can install (and run) my iDVD from my iLife install disc. I want to restore to original settings to clean things up, but I'm afraid I'll lose my iDVD.

I'm also not clear on the sequence. Would I upgrade to Yosemite first, then restore to original, or the other way around. If I go to the Apple store and have them clean the hard drive, they will install from the latest OS I imagine, which will not have iDVD on it.

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

I haven't installed it, but iDVD 7.1.2 was xferred from my old Mac by Migration assistant.
It starts under 10.10.5, and I can create a new DVD project w it. Can't write a DVD, as my drive isn't hooked up, but it looks like the App will still work.
Save the App or installer from your old Mac. You can probably just copy it over.

I have iDVD running under Yosemite, I installed it from my iLife 08 disc, no problems at all.
