Will iLife 07 sell out quickly?

I didn't have any trouble picking up iLife '06 last year. However, I'm not sure if I'm going to upgrade unless there is some major updates.

I am assuming iLife 07 will be released on the sixth of Janurary. I have no Apple Retail Store which is particulary near. The closest is shefield (U.K). I'm wanting to travel up and get iLife 07 the day it is released. My question is, will it sell out quickly? I don't really want to travel all the way down to shefield to find that it has sold out. So is it worth going on a 1 and half hour-2 hour journey to shefield, or do you think iLife '07 will have sold out?

I hope it will be released on the 9th, because im getting annoyed at my "Smart Albums" not updating themselves properly, which apparently is a know bug with iPhoto 6, At least I know it's not just me. Hopefully iLife 07 will fix it.

Well, if you are worried about it selling out, call up that Apple store you were planning to go to and ask them to put one copy aside and save it for you. They should have no problem doing that.

Yep. A new iLife suite is released every January ever since iLife 04.

I said that because I thought the Keynote was on the sixth.

I was hoping it would be on a weekend, because there the only two days that I don't have to go to school! I'll have to wait untill the weekend after the keynote then.

Even though iLife 06 was announced as being "available today" at last years keynote, it wasn't available from the Bullring store until the following weekend.

I remember this due to a wasted journey the next day

Hmmm my new Mac Pro was shipped a few days ago, delivery on the 9th. I'm wondering what version of iLife that will have with it... I *hope* 07. It'd be crap if I have to buy an upgrade the day it arrives!

No chance I'd venture. It's already on its way an '07 hasn't been announced yet and may not be available from the 9th either.

Why are you assuming iLife 07 will be released? There is nothing given that they have to update it every year.

I am actually waiting to purchase my computer on the 9th just so I can get iLife '07 pre-installed on my machine.

They won't ship from the factories with iLife '07 installed until iLife '07 is released and the stock of '06-imaged hard drives is depleted. So... iLife '07 might not come pre-installed for some time for some Macs. On the other hand, those that don't will come with iLife '07 disks, which, IMHO, is even better.

No. As mentioned above, iLife is not part of OS X. It is a bundled app with a new Mac purchase; otherwise, you must buy it separately.

Perhaps the iLife and iWork suites will be combined at some point in the future... For this year though, I still see them and separate suites.

Just a thought.

iWork may do well as its rumoured they're working on a spreadsheet application with it (now a true contender to MS Office!)

iWork is something I would love to use, but I have to use Microsoft Office for school! I might get both though....

Tiger, was delivered on the day of release when I preordered, so I imagine the same would apply to Leopard..
