iOS 11 may be the first 64bit only version.
iPad 4th gen and iPhone 5 are still 32 and I guess they won't receive an update this fall.
EVEN iOS 10 is not for iPhone 5.
If apple drop supports for iPhone 4s, i find it funny they still support the iPhone 5 with iOS 10.
iOS 10 is more than expected though, for iPhone 5 it should be end all together with iPhone 4s and iPad 2. BTW the only difference between A5 and A6 is the RAM. iPhone 5 is just like the taller version of iPhone 4S and they are both Dual core in CPU and Tripple core in GPU.
iPhone 5S is 6 times faster than iPhone 5. WHile iPhone 5 is 1.2 times faster than iPhone 4s in reality.
Maybe iOS 11 will be the last for iPhone 5S because it lacks NFC, BAROMETER, APPLE PAY, etc. and iPhone 5s is the WEAKEST iOS device to run 64 bit.

I'm beginning to think that Apple has had a change of heart about the iPhone 5. My sneaking suspicion is that it will support iOS 11. I believe it may be one of Apple's most popular models and its longevity is due to it selling lots of units.

Implemented using 64-bit framework/libraries that 32-bit devices don't have support for.

The libraries are written with code which is bitwise agnostic.

Are you saying there aren't libraries or frameworks that can be supported by some devices but not others due to some limitations of those devices?

What you're asking is slightly different from whether a library can be compiled as 32 or 64 bits builds. That latter point was the extent of what I was getting at. Generally if a hardware feature isn't supported by a particular iPhone then the device driver init method will load the driver but no attaching will occur as there are no devices of that class.

Well, if a library or a framework hasn't been compiled for 32-bit, then when using it there wouldn't be a way to make it compatible with a 32-bit device.

Even iPhone 5S is NOT a good candidate for iOS 11 even it's 64 BIT DOESN'T matter. It doesn't even clocked at the minimum requirement of 64 bit which is 1.4Ghz (only iPhone 6 and above) iPhone 5 and 5S both are 1.3Ghz almost Touch id is the only difference between the two.
Unlike the iPhone 6/6S and 7 that 5S lacks soooo many features

iPhone 5S lacks so many features like this:
1. iPhone 6/6S has more LTE BANDS
2. Has 240FPS Video on slowmotion camera.
3. No VOLTE
4. NO NFC
5. No APPLE PAY
6. NO BAROMETER
7. 3D Touch (6s and 7)
8. M8/M9/M10 Compressor.

Is just like my iPad Air 1st generation i bought, and it's always been laggy since iOS 10 even on factory reset, i can't imagine iOS 11 run on it like a TURTLE so slow like 4S in iOS 9
A7 will explode because of overheat. and it's aging A7 Processor. While iPhone 6/6S and even 7 remains cold to touch.

What does that have to do with anything related to what I commented on?

(And it's not like most of those things that an older device would naturally "lack" have any relation to how a device would work with a newer version of an OS. Basically unrelated things that don't follow.)
