We’ve all seen the new iPhone 14 “leaks“ but then the series 7 turned out to not be a re Design

what do you think?

a third year notch and 12/13 design language , or a hole punch and new design?

Notch size, thickness, cameras and, obviously, colors, may change. But the overall design of the frame is not going to change.

Since the iPhone 6, Apple switched from a 2-year, tick-tock upgrade cycle (which it had used for the iPhone 3G, iPhone 4 and iPhone 5) to a 3-year, tick-tock-tock pattern. The iPhone 6 design was out for 3 years (2014-16), and so was the iPhone X design (2017-2019).

Next year will be the last year of the iPhone 12’s 3-year design cycle.

Of course, they don’t have to stick to the pattern, but why would they not? It’s been working great for them.
 
Nah I believe in Kuo/ the leaks, I think we'll see a new design on the pros and the reduced notch design on the regular models. Hopefully it's a refresh for the whole line tho

Awesome thanks! I believe it will look like the 12/13. I love Kuo’s track record and I want to believe the rumors, but given we are an entire year out, Apple just this series reduced the notch, and historically give iterative updates, I just don’t see it. But I’m more than happy if they surprise me.
 
I love the candy bar style. If there is a redesign, hopefully it doesn't stray too far away from that style. Candy bar is better than rounded corners for holding.

The hole punch will bother me more than the notch ever did, but I guess it will another thing to get used to.

I'm curious how much bigger the cameras will get in the back. The iPhone is starting to actually look like a camera that happens to make calls.
 
I was going to say no: The iPhone 14 will look radically different, just like on the leaks. However, due to the pandemic, the slow development of smartphones nowadays, the silicon crisis (not enough chips), the upcoming crisis in China... Well, maybe they use the 12/13 design one more time, like Britney used to say on her good days. But honestly, I don’t think so.

That’s why I voted NO. Unless Apple and their providers are having real troubles, they are going to shift to a radical new design, that will be refined with the iPhone 15. Ok, now I will put my crystal ball back on the shelve.

Apple makes the phone months prior to release in this case they have perfect supply it never botherd apple and for all we know apple have bought up the majority of the ICU chips lol. The Apple watch was not even in full production hence it's coming fall .... 😀 This is only because the last minute mock up
 
Aside from removing the notch, what more can they do to the iPhone? I think we’ve almost reached peak iPhone design.

I disagree. The rounded sides are comfortable to hold, the squared are not.
 
Got a 12 mini this weekend, after my 11 got an ear speaker problem.

I loved the round body of the 11, and the screen size was perfect, the phone only was too big for my hands and pants.

the 12 mini is really comfortable , I love the flat edges and it’s just beautiful size wise for me. Would I love the size of the mini with the round body of the 11 : yes I would.

The notch is not disturbing for me, and I have used phones with a camera hole in the screen, and although there is more screen, it’s also a black spot in the screen. So yeah, I hope whenever I upgrade in a year or 3/4, I hope everything is under the display.
 
I'm thinking we are getting an iPhone X situation next year.

There will be an iPhone 14 which will be an upgraded version of the iPhone 13 (like iPhone 8)

And then we will get "iPhone XV" which will be a completely new notchless design without a camera bump (like iPhone X).

I'm guessing the iPhone 14 will keep the current price range, while iPhone XV will start at $1500.
 
If you go on rumours then no it won’t. It will be a punch hole and a different casing. The back who knows what the camera will look like as depends if we get a periscope lens or not.
 
It will look like 12 series form factor but with newer camera design on the back.
 
iPhone 6, 6S, SE, 7, 8, SE2 all look virtually identical. The design of the 12 with square edges is going to be with us for many many more years
