It looks like the glass is protruding from the metal. Does that mean it will scratch and break just as easily as the iPhone 4(S) display cover glasses?

Will iPhone 5 display glass break as easily as iPhone 4(S) display glass?

What would be the point of the aluminum casing then? Just to prevent the back from breaking?
Can somebody confirm that the glass still protrudes above the aluminum casing? Given how easy the iPhone 4 breaks and how expensive it is to replace the display ($300?), this would absolutely be a deal breaker.
