I feel as if the only major thing they will do is make the screen bigger and nothing else.

If that's all they do I'll be very happy. And will be in line at midnight. :)

I don't know that I want to see anything innovative. I do hope they go to 32/64/128 but I think they'll keep the 16 as the base.

Something like Passbook could have been innovative but it's been worthless IMO, huge disappointment. So if it's more of the stuff I won't use (like Samsung seems to add to their phones) then no thanks.

There is more than just hardware at stake here...

Yes, the iPhone needs to head into 4.5" or even 5" territory.

But, in my honest opinion, iOS is dreadfully OLD and UGLY.

iOS7 was a step backward. Notification Center is a mess. They still have an app-only springboard. There are no live "widgets" or other live "visuals" on your home screen. Hell, with millions of people JAILBREAKING their iPhones these past few years, it's really odd that Apple just continues to make the most basic-looking smartphone OS in the world. Why does Tim Cook & Co. fear "BUSY" springboards or lockscreens? Why do they design the phones like this?

Not to mention they went and made it even more basic looking by flattening all the app icons. And, stupidly, they went with a "whiter/lighter" iOS7 style overall, which drains battery life faster than a darker style would because more light is required to keep it lit up.

If I couldn't Jailbreak my iPhone, I'd be using an Android phone right now. I don't even upgrade to the latest iOS anymore until a Jailbreak comes out for it. I'm still on my iPhone 4S, which is heavily modded with JB tweaks. But I'll tell you what - my contract is up and the rumors I've heard about the S5 is really making think about switching - on DAY ONE.

If Apple wants to get my attention, give us CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS! Let us rearrange things! Let us add more LIFE to our phones!

Will iPhone 6 innovate as much as the Galaxy S5 or is Tim Cook

My gripe with iOS is not so much it's a step backwards but it's more of it feels like an old OS with features being crammed into it regardless of whether they fit or not.

Like the notifications. I have different levels of intrusions. Badges front and center, a banner that covers up app buttons at the top or no notifications.

I also feel like from time to time I'm fumbling through the settings trying to find a certain setting. Some of the setting placement is questionable. That just might be me.

Or the inconsistency of app. Safari's back button is at the bottom, tapatalk and many other apps are at the top. Not much app designers can really do since there can be a keyboard there already.

Again on settings. Safari is in the settings menu. While find friends has settings within the app. Many apps are either place you'll need to go on the hunt to find them.

Again, love iOS just doesn't feel as neat and organized as I would prefer.

It isn't an AMOLED screen, so it doesn't matter if it's pink, purple, green, blue or black.

THANK YOU! This really should be a sticky, I couldn't agree more. I'm a novice photographer and use a 600D. It takes great pics! But sometimes I am asked "what camera did you use on that shot?" "Oh that was my iPhone." Yeah, my iPhone produces stellar Depth of field and dynamic range too- and it goes everywhere with me. It has my entire iTunes library on it, and many iPhoto albums. I do not use a case. The 5s is rugged as can be and faster than any phone I've ever used.
Cheers

Thank you, and thanks to rest of you. I just wanted to point out things that people overlook. Maybe this site leads several to understand that MPs mean very little past what size the image is at a certain dpi.
You know, I never get out my camera equipment anymore for personal things. I use it for jobs, but when Im playing on my own time. I reach for the device I have with me all the time, iPhone 5s.
If and when I do reach for real camera equipment, its 95% of the time because I want off camera lighting.
If I could get my Alien Bee AB1600 and Pocket Wizard to trigger off my iPhone...LOOKOUT!!
Honestly, its the light direction that turns an image from OK, to WOW.
Its sad, I have $20k of equipment with me everyday, I use iPhone. My real camera shoots 10fps......so does 5s. With a little thought you can pull off amazing shots.

As for phone itself. I was from school of Apples "We like one hand ability". I got it. I understood it, and stayed with them on it.
But, the more I use iPad Mini, and liking the bigger screen of 5/5s over my old 4s, I want the rumored 5.7" screen, I do. I took a look at how I use my phone and I very rarely use it or want to with one hand. Its just easier with two.
I dont need anything "ground breaking". Just keep improving. Make it faster, better battery, keep doing what apple does. Make a phone that is a tool for me and just works and gets out of my way. Its not a wife. Its a device, a tool. Its a huge convenience for us to have a phone period. Now its also a computer. It accesses web and anything tied to it. Its a MP3 player, a radio. I watched the Alabama Crimson Tide play football games on it live 3 times this year while working. Its a bad ass camera. An awesome video camera. A voice recorder, note taker. A calendar, an alarm clock, a Map to anywhere on earth. and it fits in my pocket. What else can it do. Gimmicks like face detection, or that thing where u look away and video stops are useless. Those aren't real features.

Too lazy to move forward? I feel as if the only major thing they will do is make the screen bigger and nothing else. I heard they will still keep the same camera sensor? Very stupid...Apple is too predictable lately and I miss Steve Jobs's magical imagination.
The laziness that I see is in the armchair industry analysis. This is the same old rehashed commentary that we've seen in countless prior threads.

By nature most products are evolutionary and not revolutionary. If you expect otherwise then the "lack of innovation" isn't the problem.

You have to actually be pretty knowledgable to discuss technology which is why so many tech pundits fail and so many messageboard posts fail.

Innovation is subjective and really must be judged across a large group to glean any statistical benefit.

If you say "the iPhone 6 needs a 12 megapixel camera" some people will be thrilled and they'll view this as innovation moving in the right area. However ask a photographer and they've got a deeper set of questions and desires

1. Sensor size?
2. RAW support?
3. Focal length ..yadda yadda yadda

Apple is best when it's being conservative. While communication seems one way the company actually does listen well and respond to criticism. They just don't make it seem so obvious.

Honestly, I think this year will be the greatest year for the iPhone. Apple knows that people/Wall Street thinks they aren't innovating. I don't know if you saw the developer conference but Phil for very passionate when teasing the Mac Pro. The Mac Pro is a masterpiece of machinery. Can't wait for the next iPhone and we will see Android being just Samsung, possibly leenevo and HTC. The rest will not be making money.
