There have been all kinds of reports speculating delays, no stock, shortages, etc. It's a matter of what you choose to believe or wait until Apple confirms next Tuesday.

Limited quantities available at launch, and rest shipping in Oct/Nov/Dec depending on how quick or late you were to pre order after the initial window. Just like how it worked with last year's Jet Black iPhone.
