Will iTunes bkup an ATV 4?

I'm trying to revive a dead remote for my ATV 4. After reading countless threads in various places it seems my last resort is to use iTunes to do a full restore in hopes it will reactivate this ridiculously overpriced turd of a remote.

Before I try this does anyone know if iTunes will do a backup of the contents on the ATV4?

I have the impression, that Apple does this in iCloud automatically.
When I replaced my aTV 4 with the new aTV 4K, once set up, it immediately started installing my apps from App Store.

Yes, if you have tvOS 11, and have the home screen sync setting turned on in iCloud it will backup your homescreen and installed apps. You'll still have to sign back in to all the apps though, unfortunately.
