iPhone Will jailbreaking allow me to delete files in the library/sms folder?

Or will I still need to use a program like DiskAid or iExplorer once the phone is unlocked?

iphone 4s, iOs 5.1.1.
 
You will still need a program to access the root directory, but if jailbroken, you will be able to access the root.
