So I installed Lion GM on my 2010 MacBook white and was wondering if Lion GM was going to continue to receive updates once Lion is officially released or if it is just going to stay at whatever version (finalized or unfinalized) that it is.

Assuming that the GM version is the same build as the one set for official release, then the only updates post-release will either be official bug fixes or .1 updates from Apple. At least, that's what would make sense to me. Those of us who have the GM essentially got Lion a week or so earlier than everyone else. Once updates start coming in, there shouldn't be any difference between GM users and those who buy on launch day.

At least, I seriously hope so. These bugs are starting to annoy.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if my GM version of Lion was going to be any different than the final release build that is probably coming out in a week or so. So far I haven't noticed any bugs, but then again I am a new Mac user and haven't really played around with it for more than a few hours today.

Even if the GM won't update, which it is most likely going to, then I bet there will be a workaround to install 10.7.1. I don't know if it happened with SL or Leopard.

You could probably just download it from apple.com when they post the link and install it yourself.

If it checks the build number (doubtful, I think they always just check the version number), you could always edit it (it's somewhere in /System/Library/CoreServices).

If I remember correctly, I had the GM for Snow Leopard and it updated just fine.

Same here. All DVD or pirate versions updated as per normal, only difference is if all updates run through the receipt in App store for verification, but it's so cheap . . . . no need to pirate.

Updates check the build number. Modifying files to fool the updater could really mess things up. If there's a new GM build that gets released, people may as well just pirate that one too.

You are all developers testing the GM release before it is released to the public, so I'm sure Apple will take care of you through the Dev program. No worries!
