I very often use a Java .Jar program (in Yosemite). I currently have Java 8 update 45 installed. Will it run just fine under El Capitan?

    Thanks very much.

Yes will be fine, but you really should be using 8u60 not 8u45 now :)

Be aware that the link I posted above from Apple is just to allow Java apps to run on your computer. It does not include the web plug-in which is just as much a security risk as flash. The one from Oracle includes the web plug-in so if you don't need it to access any websites on the web be sure to disable Java plug-in in the browser(s).
