iPhone 5 or earlier will not accept apple id after reinstall

I have a simple apple id password...entered it 8 times and the phone refuses to accept...using the same password for icloud...that password works fine...is there a fix for this?

iCloud sign-in would use your AppleID password.
So, are you asking about the password for your admin account on your Mac?
Or, passcode for unlocking your phone?
If AppleID, is the AppleID account name spelled correctly? (double-check that spelling)

_____ I don't have the iphone password needed...this is all about the Apple password....I told you I have tried this 8 times...

If you enter it wrong too many times, you will be locked out of your AppleID account.
If that password is accepted when you log in to iCloud, then something else is incorrect about your iPhone login, and you do need to double-check that the email address used for the AppleID login on the iPhone is really correct...

If you enter it wrong too many times, you will be locked out of your AppleID account.
If that password is accepted when you log in to iCloud, then something else is incorrect about your iPhone login, and you do need to double-check that the email address used for the AppleID login on the iPhone is really correct...

I am sure the apple ID is correct as I used it on icloud to make sure and it work...how do I reverse the lockout?

Don't you use your Apple ID to log into iCloud?

Contact AppleID support. If you can't log in to your AppleID account, Apple support will need to help you get the account password reset.

In technical troubleshooting guessing does not help. I am pretty sure that the password for iCloud is your Apple ID password. I see no way of setting up a different iCloud password with the same Apple ID.
