This is working for me. In the process of testing it now, transferring a 6 gig file now, I have no write capabilities without NTFS-3G, looking for the latest version of that now:

You should follow these steps in order to have the latest version of MacFuse:
1) Install http://macfuse.googlecode.com/files/MacFUSE-2.0.3,2.dmg - RESTART
2) Install http://www.tuxera.com/mac/macfuse-core-10.5-2.1.9.dmg - RESTART
3) Install http://content.wuala.com/contents/g...cFUSE.prefPane-2.0-64-bit-2009-09-10.zip?dl=1

Now you have the latest version of MacFuse and the 64bit prefpane.

Update: I installed NTFS-3G 2010.10.2 and have some write capabilities back. However I am getting an error message along the lines of the drives not responding in 15 seconds, but one of them came up anyway.
This worked for me. Thanks for the help. I'm running Lion (10.7) on a G5 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon.

exFAT TFAT -- more secure, but how do set up??

Hi all,

I'm really interested in exFAT too, though I've read that data is not terribly secure if, say, the drive loses power while writing. The singular file allocation table can get damaged.

I'm interested in something called exFAT TFAT, which effectively maintains a "backup" file allocation table. But I can't any any info on how to implement this. Any ideas??

Thanks!
Djuna

NTFS-3G Might Work or May Not Work Properly on OS X Lion But There's a Another Soft.

This Was Released For OS X Lion Developer Preview but Its Really Working Great On My Lion 10.7 (Build 11A511) ... No Struck , No Slow Writing , No Error Showing
...

Thanks Leopunk!

Has anyone else used this yet? Im hesitant to uninstall macfuse and ntfs-3g to try this, just incase Paragon fails miserably and I cant get them back

I used to use NTFS-3g with my pre lion OS, and like everyone else it no longer works, however I have an interesting workaround.

I use VMWare Fusion to run Windows XP based VMs, so all i do is mount my passport drive onto my XP based VM (that still works) and use that to move data back and forth between my Mac and passport drive.

Do not include links to torrents or other sites of pirated apps. I edited out the mediafire link as it was a commercial application

This worked for me too - but only for the trial subscription period :( Now its no longer working! Anyone know of a solution other than buying it? I thought the guy said there wasn't any subscription to buy for this?

On Copy Carbon Cloner...

New in Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1:

New Features:

• Support for backing up to/from network volumes
This version adds support for backing up to and from non-HFS+ volumes. Specifically, you can back up the contents of FAT32 and NTFS volumes, as well as the contents of a network-attached volume (e.g. AFP, SMB). CCC will preserve as much filesystem metadata as possible, and will warn when incompatibilities exist between the source and destination filesystems. Please note that clones of NTFS volumes will not be bootable.

I've got NTFS-3G with Macfuse on my mac pro and its INCREDIBLY slow. I just transferred 315gb from my Mac's secondary hard drive to an external drive running on an NTFS partition. It took 13 hours to transfer 315gb of files.

Does Paragon exhibit the same problems with read/write speeds?

other than paragon, any free NTFS software for lion?
NTFS (Windows NT File System)
  • Read/Write NTFS from native Windows.
  • Read only NTFS from native Mac OS X
[*]To Read/Write/Format NTFS from Mac OS X, here are some alternatives:
    • For Mac OS X 10.4 or later (32 or 64-bit), install Paragon (approx $20) (Best Choice for Lion)
    • For 32-bit Mac OS X, install NTFS-3G for Mac OS X (free) (does not work in 64-bit mode)
    • For 64-bit Snow Leopard, read this: MacFUSE for 64-bit Snow Leopard
    • Some have reported problems using Tuxera (approx $36).
    • Native NTFS support can be enabled in Snow Leopard and Lion, but is not advisable, due to instability.
  • AirPort Extreme (802.11n) and Time Capsule do not support NTFS
  • Maximum file size: 16 TB
  • Maximum volume size: 256TB
  • You can use this format if you routinely share a drive with multiple Windows systems.
