I bought a 3GS last night at Apple....great product. Unforuntately, no ATT service in my place of work...outside is great.

I returned the phone to Apple today and forgot to ask if the return will cancel my ATT contract or do I need to contact ATT.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Never assume anything, it should be cancelled but since we're talking about $$$ you should follow up with ATT

I am a Rep at an att mobility store, have been for the past 3 years!

Unless apps can cancel your account at their store (i don think they do)

you account will not automatically get canceled...

so call 1-800-331-0500 and tell them to cancel it...

or cancel it first by calling 611 then return the phone... either way

Most likely - if you're in the US you have ~10-14 days to terminate a contract - for reasons just like this. I wouldn't sweat it.
Ahh... thought you were asking about term issues... Anyway - yes, certainly do it and get a confirmation. Some ATT 'worker' might dismiss it and your period will lapse, causing more issues.

Thanks all. I did call ATT and they seemed to think the Apple cancel transaction would handle everthing.

I'll stop by a local ATT store tonight with my purchase and return receipts from Apple for proof.

Stopped by the local ATT stored tonight, showed them the receipts, and cancelled the contract without any questions.
