I have a Macbook Pro Retina 2014 that's out of warranty.
It has a Samsung JPU512 blade SSD that is shutting down unexpectedly every day for no reason.

I have written only 15 TB of data on it. Can I ask Samsung for a replacement?

If I'm not mistaken, the JPU512 is the SSD that Apple put in the MBP's and was only sold by Samsung as an OEM part. As such, the warranty would come through Apple, not Samsung. If you bought it through eBay or someone similar, whatever warranty the seller offered (likely none) would apply. If this is something that Apple replaced recently, there might be a warranty there. If it's the original SSD that came with the MBP, the warranty for the SSD expired at the same time the MBP warranty did.

OP:

Are you certain that the "shutdowns" are coming from the SSD?
...and not from something else?

Yes, I tried it in different computers, after a clean install of the OS. The stats from DriveDx indicate a ridiculous amount of unexpected shutdowns, and it increases day after day.

I've been curious how Samsung handles this myself. I am guessing it may partly depend on whether Samsung provides the completely finished product (i.e., while they manufacture the entirely completed proprietary Apple SSD), or if Samsung provides only a partially completed product which is finalized in an Apple factory.

Please let us know what Samsung says when you contact them!

Samsung has no obligation to replace anything here since a) it’s not a product they offer to end customers and b) it’s out of warranty anyway. Talk to Apple, maybe they’ll be nice enough to do an out of warranty replacement.
