T-Mobile versions which come unlocked and you can pay full price for... Yes!

The difference between the two isn't really anything. But Apple usually doesn't sell "sim free" models until a couple of weeks in.

Ya know I'm totally not sure! I do know that buying any model outright makes it come unlocked. Last year I purchased a sprint 7 Plus and popped my ATT sim right in.

AT&T and T-Mobile iPhone 8 models lack CDMA capability (i.e. intel modem because Qualcomm patent licensing dispute with Apple). The Verizon/Sprint model iPhone will be closest to SIM free.
