Does anybody have an answer to this question? I really would like to know and can't find anything online about it.

The tech spec lists it for the camera, but not video recording.

Since it works by taking several photos and compositing them into one it would need a lot more processing power to do that for video. So, sometime in the future but not for this gen.

Yes, for sure. Let me search for the proof.

Ok, that right here is the killer feature for me. I prefer 24fps anyways for my use cases. Hope its not gonna suck
Don't know, but it was nice to have all of these.

[doublepost=1568312047][/doublepost]I indeed checked with my phone and 4k 24 fps is brighter in low light. Interesting.

I still would prefer that they would expose this feature over an API. Id love having that footage ungraded in VLOG through filmic pro.

If you're that much in mobile video photography, nothing beats the LG V50. Forget about filmic and iPhone.

It’s still also a phone for me. Which is the point: Ill always have it with me. And for a phone, Android is a no go for me. If I wanted another device for filming Id just take my GH5 with me.

I understand. Gh5 being?

Can't really have night mode in video at the moment. The video's shutter speed can't be lower than the frame rate, so 1/60, 1/30 or 1/24 depending. The night mode relies partly on longer exposures, and takes multiple exposures for one picture. When you have 24/30/60 pictures per second for video, in a compressed format, night mode for video is very far away.

That’s not “ Ishtar Mode”. It’s simply a slower shutter speed which could “help improve” low light video. Night Mode is not available for video and if one realized that true “night mode” takes several images a different exposures and combines them, one would understand how/why “night mode” isn’t available for video. :)

On the other hand, why not record with all 3 cameras at the same time and use the extra photons captured by the other 2 cameras to improve the result. I mean, sure, pixels cant be reprojected 1:1, but a lot of the information can still be mapped across video streams. The resolution of the extra streams would be lower due to cropping into the target frame, but thats still enough to boost night vision. And as we know from Filmic Pro, the new iPhone is perfectly capable to stream from all the cameras at the same time.
At least for the telephoto lens, I dont see why it wouldn’t work. It’s basically like combining 3 different raytracing samples.

The contact Apple and offer to go to work for them as an optical software engineer 😉

I’ve never see the big fuss about “night mode” anyway.

I’m done with my work in the fields of computer graphic/vision. But I doubt I would qualify for their R&D department anyways. Just being curious, thats all. Seemed to me you got an idea what’s going on behind the scenes.
