2019 16" comes with a now larger 100-watt-hour lithium‑polymer battery.

Will Apple update the 58.2‑watthour lithium‑polymer battery found in the 13" for the 14"?

For 2020 other laptop makers pack in a 76-watt-hour battery for their 14" models.

I think few would mind lugging a 87W charger in the dimensions of the current 61W one.

No one can answer this question because nobody here knows, with the possible exception of Apple employees.
And they aren't talking !

I would freak if they put a 100w battery inside. Assuming there is no dGPU we will have battery for days

Me too! It would increase the economies of scale for the 96W charger (thus cheaper to make?) and increase the battery life from ~10 hours to ~20 hours.

There was a request for a iPhone-style "low power mode" for the next update of macOS. You can do this now with a third-party app called Turbo Boost Switcher Pro.
