I'm looking to upgrade my hard drive. I currently have early 2008 mbp with 200gb 7200 hd. It's just completely full right now.

Any recommendations on which one to get? also. would 500gb 7200 rpm one come out anytime soon?

Lastly. what can be used of with my old hard drive? :apple:

Thanks

I hear 7200 IS coming out soon, but to answer your question.

To the best of my knowledge, the 200GB 7200 will be faster because of it's rotational speed.

The 500GB 5400 has more data packed more densely on the platters so the data will be running by the head at a faster rate than we know for lesser density disks; theoretically 500GB 5400 could be just as fast.

Yes, it will fit. I don't know of any SATA 2.5" hard drives that are more than 9.5 mm in hight (the standard).

If you've got no room left on your hard drive, you need to free some up! You'll immediately see speed improvements because the file system needs room to shuffle and play.

If you're unloading a truck and need what's in the far back of the trailer to go first into the warehouse, you need somewhere to set all the things that come out first.

#0 and #00 is very similar; you could try using the #00, but be careful not to mess up the head.

Newegg has the 500GB 7200 in stock for $139 with free 3 day UPS shipping.
