I received a Macbook Pro from a family member as a gift - It was purchased in February - It is the current model 17" - It is untouched and the box is sealed - they bought it in February though - would the Apple store let me exchange it for an iMac?

It arrives in a couple of days - and the Apple store is a bit of a distance - so I thought if anyone here knew....

Thoughts?

1) Don't open it.
2) Go plead your case at the Apple store with receipt in hand.
3) If you are lucky you might be able to return it with a restocking fee.
4) Last option is resale (e.g. Craigslist).

Thanks - I think I will plead my case at the Apple store - I will show them the receipt for my new 13.3 Macbook Pro - my iPad 2 and iPhone - they just gotta love me!

Didn't know this was coming...

...keep us posted what happens...

You got it as a gift, if it was for a B-day and your family member bought it early that will help your "exchange" case plea.

Good luck.
