...work with my TV? It's an LG 55UF850V, I've got the Apple TV on order but after a bit of reading I'm not sure it's going to work with my TV.

Your LG TV:
- Has HDMI 2.0 => 4K @ 60 fps support
- Can do deep color => more than 8-bits per channels (e.g. 10 bits for R, G and B) => but useless if your LCD screen only has 16-bits or 24-bits per pixel.
It doesn't do HDR. For HDR, you also need IEC REC2020, a wider color space/gammut, better LCD screen, full adaptive local dimming etc.
There's no reason it won't work. The AppleTV "5" UI will be rendered at 4k resolution. You can watch 4K content from Netflix or Amazon (provided they stop fooling around release the tvOS app), iTunes 4K or e.g. 4K stuff off your NAS via Infuse or MrMC (but.. no 4K support yet AFAIK, should come soon).
Only issue I think of is HDCP 2.2 support... but in a TV from 2015 I would expect HDCP 2.2 if it can receive 4K.
(HDCP encrypts the video signal from the AppleTV to the TV)
