Yes. 128GB chips didn't suddenly become more plentiful or cheaper again, so they are probably going to use a single 256GB chip again - which is why it is "slower".
Dont believe that was the case, it was just the 256. The 512 and up didnt get an improvement over the m1 but it matched.I‘m also curious about this. If I remember correctly the m2 512ssd also was slower than the m1 due to the use of 2 chips instead of 4. Was wondering if the m3 is the same story.
