Will the carriers have the same sort of "trade in 6s for free iPhone 8" promotion like last year?

Purely hypothetical of course as I'm not asking for definites, just curious your thoughts:

Do you think the big-4 wireless carriers (VZW, AT&T, T-Mo, Sprint) will have the same sort of "trade in your iPhone 6s for a free iPhone 8", type of deal like they did this last year with the 7?

Or do you think that deal was basically an anomaly to prop up sales of the 7 and won't happen with the more popular and redesigned 8?

TIA for your input :)

Hoping for the same for either 7 or 8 with my s7. Missed the last free trade. Ready to go back to apple for a while

What I think happened was T-Mobile did it to drive sales. Then Verizon and Sprint revealed a very limited version 2 days later and a day after that ATT played catch-up releasing a very limited version that was made available for anyone and not properly explained to their employees.
So if T-mobile does it again, then yes. I could see the others do it again.

If they do, I'm gonna have to buy an iPhone 6s to trade in. Should have done that last time but I wasn't sure if I wanted the 7.

Yep, pretty much.
The other carriers wouldn't have copied that promo it if it wasn't for T-Mobile.
T-Mobile is putting the pressure on the rest of the carriers and many times they are forced to copy or come out with very similar monthly plans and iPhone promos just to keep up.
They must be pissed:D
Before AT&T and Verizon would copy each other's price increases only.

More this than anything...but we will have to wait and see if they do the same this September.

Maybe not as generous this time?
