Will the GT120 be sufficient?

I initially ordered a ATI 4850 but due to the freezing I returned it and now am reconsidering if I really need that much GPU, so to speak.

I have read and reread multiple threads about similar choices/usage but my lack of computer spec knowledge hampers my ability to make a confident decision.

Am I correct that the iMac with the 120 will be fine for Elements/Wacom Tablet work, Freeway Pro(wysiwyg html editor), web surfing, email, the usual retinue etc and no gaming?

And what about Snow Leopard? Will it demand a better card- will I find the GT120 has significant limitations in a fairly short time?

Thanks for any help. I assumed the 4850 would, thru overkill, cover any and all bases for me but, the freezing and cost issues combined have me second guessing. I could BTO and add the GT130 instead but I would prefer to buy in store and also would not mind saving the $150 for it.

    Currently I use a G4 eMac, 10.3.9, 1GHz with 384mb-lol.

Snow Leopard will not demand a better GPU, but it will utilize a better GPU more efficiently. I recommend to get the ATI GPU - it is noticeably better than the GT 120.

Not if your not doing anything that utilizes the GPU.

For your needs, the integrated graphics would be fine. The GT120 will be great. Snow Leopard will not suddenly make the card useless - just think about it. The GT120 is better than the 9400M. Apple just put the 9400 in nearly every one of their computers. Do you really think they would not release an OS that didn't run on most of their computers? Of course not.

The GT 120 I have found is actually a pretty darn good GPU, it should be more than enough for those tasks.

The GT120 is pretty crippled. Go with ATI if you can.

Are you kidding? Get the 9400m and make sure you have 4GB total RAM. You will be just fine.

Agreed. The GT120 could be overkill, but if you got the cash, it would "cover all bases" as you say.
