Rumors say it will be very thicc
Well it's unlikely to be heavier or thicker than the original iPhone. So I voted no.
The weight?...yes, please speculate about this.
It's a burning question. /* not /
What does thickness have to do with weight?
I doubt it.
They usually try to make it lighter each time. I dont think it will be thicker than the current model either.
If you get one, you normally get the other. Exceptions to this rule include man-sized portions of cotton candy, or dark matter as big as a thumbnail.
Dark matter could be even heavier within the influence of the as yet undiscovered (or unthoughtof?) dark gravity.
It might be the heaviest iPhone, but compared to the first mobile phones,no iPhone is in any way heavy.
If you need to see what I mean, look up the now obsolete Ericsson NMT 450 phones. Was kind of heavy things.
I think styrofoam is the exception to the rule.
Two cubic feet of styrofoam will still be heavier then one cubic foot of styrofoam.
Yes but if you get 100 pounds of cotton and 100 pounds of steel what one is heavier?
From reports, it sounds like it will be thick and heavy so I think it could be
Why you no answer?
The T H I C C-er the better imo
Hilarious!!!! If true.
Thick, but with the camera bulge still present.
The heaviest iPhone to date was the 6s+. Since the body will be closer to the size of the non-plus models, I'm going to say no, the iPhone 8 won't be the heaviest ever.
Not sure why no one has brought this up yet, but the frame is going to be made of steel. For that reason it most definitely will be the heaviest phone since the iPhone 4S. Not sure what the weight was pre-iPhone 5.
Also, general components would dictate it may be marginally more heavy than previous phones as well. ~15-20% bigger battery due to L shape add-on, which is due to stacked logic board. Other tech additions maybe adding a negligible amount of weight.
I am also assuming we're ruling out the Plus models, which are bigger and heavier, than the standard models.
What some are forgetting is that the iPhone 8 is rumored to have a stainless steel body. Regardless of the size difference between the plus variant and the 8 I would expect the 8 to be heavier then the plus if it is indeed made from stainless steel. The iPhone 4 was a heavy phone and that only had to hold a 3.5" screen.
Not to mention glass, which is heavier than aluminium right?
I'll give you my "standard" answer.
True! The stainless steel will likely contribute to most of the weight gain though. Haha who knows though, they might pull an Essential phone move and have a frame made from titanium. They had powerbooks in the past made from titanium so they are no stranger to the material.
Its actually rumored to have a glass back in which would allow for wireless charging.
I don't care if it's depleted uranium heavy as long as the battery is actually a step forward.
Look if Samsung can do Apple should be able to do it. Apples engineering just sucks sometimes. Take a S8+ apart and see how Samsung did it and re-engineer. The S8+ and iPhone 8 should weigh about the same.
