I bought the battery pack with my Mini 13 start of the year. It was predominately for a 24 hr flight in mind and for the transit time at airports, it was fabulous.

If it will see a return with USB-C, am going to go against the grain and say, probably not. I guess resized to the smallest iP15, maybe flatter and cheaper, it would sell ok. I know many iP users that couldn't see value in its current guise/ price and expected it to be a multi-charge power bank.

I hope it continues as a product, even if its no longer an option for me.

Both will be redesigned.

Battery Pack will increase in surface area. Apple might boost capacity (and increase price) or just make it thinner.

Duo Charger will have smaller bezels to avoid the camera bump.

One complaint I have with my battery pack (a necessity when traveling with the mini) is the heat it produces when charging. My setup is to have my phone strapped to the battery, with a lightning cable plugged into the battery to charge both. This results in the phone overheating and I have to charge them separately.

I’m excited for a battery pack that won’t be bogged down by having to fit on the mini phones! The current one is nice but I’d like for it to last a little longer. I doubt it’s a dead product.

Agreed. Also with new Pro iPhones being the latest in the last few years they have an extra incentive to provide a bigger MagSafe battery pack

The MagSafe Battery Pack is great for its size and weight, and perfect for just that added bit of extra charge. A USB-C version that is slightly larger would be nice, so long as Apple does not make it too large.

My guess is that since Apple advertised “all day battery life” for regular iPhone 15 and love for Mother Nature, perhaps they decided that these small plastic battery cells did not make much sense any longer?

I'm guessing they simply want to deplete the existing inventory out of the market as much as possible before releasing a re-designed version. In the meanwhile, it's worth pointing out that charging on these is 2-way, so you can use the existing MagSafe battery pack with an iPhone 15 and recharge it via the iPhone while that is plugged in with USB-C.

It would take some effort to make something that looks worse than these battery packs. The wallet comes close but not quite.

The lightning version was limited in physical size to the 12 mini (and 13 mini). Designing a new one could allow Apple to increase the width without making it thicker to increase capacity.

The only thing that got me P***ed O** release event last week was the sudden discontinuation of the MagSafe battery pack. I had planned to purchase one for my 13 Mini before the end of the year to use to stretch the battery life of my phone when I plan to take some long plane flights. However, I did manage to find a remaining one in stock at a nearby Target on Friday, so I bought it on the spot. Since I own an iPad Air 5, I have both lightening and USB-C cables, with a 20 watt charger, so the connector type on the battery pack was not an issue for me. My experience when Apple accessories are discontinued is that they can disappear quickly, or linger on store shelves for awhile. I decided not to take any chances.

They're still available on Amazon

Hope you're right. I love my Duo, although the fit of my 14 Pro leaves something to be desired.

MagSafe Duo was overdue for an update anyway. Camera bump on some iPhones were too big causing it to not align properly. Also no fast charging for Apple Watch.

Would prefer it in some other material than the white rubbery material it's in now. Maybe in the new "FineWoven" material. Along with a way to use StandBy mode on your iPhone.

And for the battery, I know it's small and wouldn't be able to charge that much, but reverse charging from the USB-C cord would be excellent for the iPad and so on in a pinch.

I quite like the ability to even charge my APP2 from the battery pack. But yes, it's ability is still expandable until (maybe) the iP can reverse charge such ancillaries.

The ability to charge other devices from the USB C port is something I’m hoping for too. I’d also love it if we could charge an Apple Watch from the battery without having to plug the Apple Watch cable into the USB C port.

How hard is it for a company like Apple to switch to basic products to usb c ?!
Also why off when you still sell some lighting iPhones such as 13 and 14 ?
Tim get some sleep and see how messy your line is … in the meantime I don’t upgrade to anything …

I love my duo when traveling , after all it's only one lightning cable that stays with it all the time in a travel pouch . But I must agree with the person who said that if a new one comes out it should be compatible with Standby .

It looks like there are a lot of third party copies of this that are already usb-c. Is there any noticeable difference between them and the Apple branded one?
Not necessarily. However, a notable number of reviewers note how the Apple branded one doesn't get overly warm/hot like the 3rd party magnetic battery packs.

Hardwired MagSafe USB-C external SSD anyone? Would be pretty slick for a direct-to-external 4K60 b-roll workflow...
