Other Will the Never Notchers not upgrade until the notch is fully gone?

I upgraded to XS max from 7 plus in 2018 and used it for 1 year but i didnt like the notch and the narrow display.I liked the 16:9 ratio of the 7 plus so traded off xs max for good deal and got the 8 plus brand new from apple.com. I don't regret going back to 8 plus. I will see what apple has to offer this year, if that design (smaller notch) impress me i may go to that, if not i can still hold on to 8 plus for an year for sure.
 
I'm one of those "never-notchers"...won't buy until the notch goes away. My 6s (on ios12) is still going strong so I can wait. And if my 6s goes belly-up, I've got a cheap Moto G7 Play waiting in the wings as a backup.

Sure, Android isn't as good as iOS but If I'm paying big bucks on my next iphone, you can bet that I'm not going to compromise. And if TouchID comes back in the next year or two, even better.

My iPhone X will work for another 3 years and if it doesn't I'll just not use a phone. A phone isn't required.
 
Id choose the notch over any Dot Display,Infinity Display yada yada Dot in yo screen(whatever you wanna call it). But if i could i would choose full screen with no notch or dots. But honestly speaking the notch on my 12PM doesnt bother me at all. I dont even seem to feel that theres a notch unless im using the front facing camera or cleaning the phone.
 
Im happy with my Xs Max and could have upgraded to the 11 or 12 but honestly didn't want to. The notch is a big issue to be perfectly honest. By the time I want to upgrade this should be resolved.
 
I honestly don’t mind the notch at all. Would it be nice to have one? Sure. But it makes it look like an iPhone ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
 
Imagine the emerging Apple trend that has happened to the iMac and rumored MacBooks making an appearance on the iPhone as a white bezel as well plus the notch

A friend let me play with his XS Max for a while. What a flickering piece of garbage. I couldn't tolerate looking at it for long. Eyestrain. Pity. Big screen, good speaker and camera- but deadly display. Taking the toxic OLED screen out of the equation, the notch when viewing stuff in landscape mode was a major flaw in my mind. I couldn't get over it.
After playing with that XS Max for a short while, I knew id never use (no less buy) an iPhone with that screen tech

I don’t understand how the notch can be such a big deal in any orientation. Content is always more focussed to the centre so you just don’t look at it much at all.

A dot takes a decent amount less space then a notch. Why do you fell it’s worse? Just curious.

id rather it take a certain space and have no image over it rather than my baby having a dot on its head.you know when you set a photo as wallpaper the dot is annoying. id rather have a thick bezel rather than notch/dot.
 
As a previous never notcher myself I have to say that it’s only because of threads like this that I’m reminded that the notch even exist. It really does fade into the background when you focus on the content rather than the phone itself.
 
I will not upgrade indeed. My iPhone 11 Pro Max will last easily 5+ years, so I have enough time to wait till Apple fixes notch.

Agree. Still have the 8 Plus and prefer the aspect ratio and home button—and no notch.

Hard agree about the threads like this being a reminder. I wouldn't mind if the notch eventually disappeared but when I'm concentrating on what the screen is showing I don't even notice it almost all of the time.
