I haven’t look too closely at the Siri AI features. We know there are a lot of companies (Humans, Open AI) attempting to make AI pins. Apple has millions of people wearing AI pin-shaped devices on their wrists. Will the new AI features start moving the Apple Watch towards that territory? Something like that is probably needed given the reputation that Apple Watch is pretty mature at the moment

I sure hope not.
But if that is "the" push for new AWs this year (vs updated health features/sensors) then I will re-think my long-term plans re AW.
Starting with S4 I either had SS or Ti and then U1 and U2. IF they move as you suggest, my U2 will have a much longer life than I was planning and a successor will be the cheapest AW available at that time.
AW has been my favorite Apple device for many many years, if I get "AI" shoved down my throat, my wallet will speak.

I hope Siri gets smarter. I would love to be able to ask my favorite LLM questions while I’m out and about on my cellular AWU3. So being able to ask Siri questions about things around me or my random thought of the hour would be nice. But I imagine it will use a lot of cellular battery.
I use my watch primary as a watch and fitness device. While I would enjoy more of an AI fitness coach - it’s not a must and not something I’d want to impact the fact that the Apple Watch has been really solid for years now. It tells the time well, it does what it does well, I don’t want that impacted for AI or anything. In fact, I’d love a real “low power mode” that would give it Garmin like battery life when I want it.
My G-Shocks look very attractive with their cost. I sure as heck don’t want to spend more $.

Siri AI needs 17 Pro or Air, i.e. a significant compute platform. Even the latest Watch is the most constrained platform of any Apple mobile device (excluding AirTags).

3. AI pin may just be an "adjunct" processor, and all the hard work is done on a connected iPhone. Other than a camera, Watch already does that.
So if the AI pin is almost entirely an adjunct processor, something like a Watch with a camera and no screen, then maybe there's a possibility that something Watch-like could be the AI pin. To me, the main constraint would be Siri AI's computational needs.
