With bean counter CEO Tim Cook at the wheel, Apple has been trying squeeze every penny out of its customers.

We see this with soldered RAM in the Mac Mini, iMac, etc.

We also see this with soldered SSD in the MacBook Retina.

What are the chances that the new MacBook Air will have soldered SSD?

Unless the MacBook Air undergoes a more significant redesign, I'm quite sure they'll continue using separate SSDs.

Standard PCIe M.2, but who really cares about the interface if it isn't soldered as the OP asks ?

It's not standard M.2. It's a custom form-factor and unique connector.
