Will the NEXT iPhone be available ON-line (pre-order) or IN-line (at the store only)?

I'm just wondering, when it first comes out this summer:

1) Will the NEXT iPhone be available on-line for pre-order?

2) Or it'll be available at the store only (like the 1st iPhone) where we have to get in line?

3) Or both?

Perhaps a stupid question, but... when you pre-order online, does the phone ship to your house on the release day or do you still have to go pick it up at AT&T? I want to avoid standing in those lines at all costs.

I pre-ordered the 3GS online and got it around 2pm release date through Fedex (I think that was the carrier). Definitely gonna do the same this year. I stood in line for the 3G and hated it... Got there at 7am and got the iPhone around 10:30...

Same here.
I hated waiting for hours for the 3G and then their system was down and they couldnt activate them etc...
It was a mess that launch day.
Im doing the same as last year. Preorder and have it mailed to my address.

I'd imagine they'll do it the same way as last year. I pre-ordered and went into the store on launch morning to pick it up myself. (And was the first person let into the store, and my dorky self was actually kinda proud of that. 😱 )

haha I went to the flagship Apple store on Regent Street in London and was the only person there at opening time!!!! I had to laugh!🙂

Probably both. The first iPhone launch was store-only mostly because they wanted to continue to hype engine and show people waiting in line.

I knew it wasn't about that, but it popped into my head all the same. Ha
