The original SE stood for Special Edition usually Special Editions are only a one off, so the SE replacement might be called something else such as iPhone Mini or just iPhone.

Hopefully Apple will go with the A11 rather than the A10, as this phone won't see another update until 2020 at the earliest, and with around 5 months left until the A12 is out it would make more sense.

It Simply could be just call the iPhone SE again, if Apple just discontinues the first generation SE. But then again, there is absolutely no guarantee an iPhone SE 2 will ever exist as well.

    I think SE2.

The name stands for something now and has consumer recognition.

For those interested in smaller and cheaper phones, marketing or selling a product called ‘SE2’ to them is easy - from the outset people will get what it is and be receptive to the details of what’s been upgraded.

I doubt that most people know what ‘SE’ stands for in the first place anyway (and that’s ok).

Now it just means ‘smaller and cheaper new iPhone’

My guess will be iPhone SE 2018 edition but the rumored price of $450 will be watchful...

SE again with a "new" tag on the web store, just like the iPad 2017 and 2018.

They don't care at all for consistency so it could literally be anything. Possible 2018 lineups include: iPhone mini - Air - Pro, iPhone 9 - 8S - X2, iPhone SE2 - 8S - Plus - X Series 2, etcetera.

Do you have a link to the rumored price of $450? There has been plenty of rumors indicating what type of hardware it might incorporate, but I never read anything about a price point or retaining a similar price, which The original SE started at $400 for the 16 GB model in the U.S.

This. I think it will still be called iPhone SE. Just updated specs/body/etc.

They're going to consolidate their naming scheme.

    SE X.

iPhone SE with a more powerful processor than the latest iPad Pro won’t happen.

The only way it could work is if Apple releases the new iPad Pro before the new iPhone SE.
