But the web store have express check out. Which one in your opinion will be faster?

Their pretty much the same speed. Even though the app doesn't have express checkout, all you need to do to finish the purchase (provided you have your CC saved to your account already) is put in the 3-5 digital security code from the back of your CC. That'll confirm and complete the purchase.

Hey the app has Apple Pay. That'll be fastest.

I just hope the SS models are available, my first choice is the SS with milanese loop for the 24th if not I'm going with black classic buckle; if all fails I might go for the link bracelet.

I don't really think whe going to have problems with this pre-order, it's a new product and haven't seen any bug interest outside the internet/forum; some don't even know about the watch lol

I also do not think the preorder process will be that bad UNLESS all of the major news outlets and websites make it a big headline on Thursday that it goes live MIDNIGHT. Hopefully they will wait to tell the story on Friday and say 'preorders already backlogged'.

MY iPhone 6+ jumped in the order queue by almost a month. I was quite pleased with that. However I think that was mostly because AT&T had no idea when and how many Apple would give them.

I would not be too concerned , while the hype might be building up on MR for the launch, IMO most people will wait and see, while a phone is generally a must have , an accessory for the iphone will be an option only some jump at.

The online store will handle it just fine, from my experience only the iPhone 6 caused issues, and the watch will not be as popular as any recent iPhone that was offered for pre-order

from experience app is a more stable experience and quicker. Also in the past it has accepted orders before the web.

Was using the web Overseas for iPhone 6 as I could not use the app, and it was a mess.

I am interested in the answer to an earlier question. If you have saved what you want as a favorite will it be a quick step to buy it. Logically yes but interested to know if this is in fact true

Are you sure you have to enter the security code? I thought you just had to enter your Apple ID password and hit place order?

iPhones are sold in numerous stores. Apple watches are sold in one store.

For the 6+ launch I literally had my iMac, Mac Pro, iPad, and old Touchpad (couldn't resist the $49 deal and it opens .pdf), and two iPhones trying to load the website/App Store. 24 minutes later my iPad loaded the App store. I will have the same set up, but doubt it will take the App store that long to load. I wouldn't be surprised if several of the devices load the webpage and/or App Store soon after 12:01, but will the watch I want still be in stock...that is the question.

In other words, I bet Apple handles the traffic well, but I question supply levels. They may be higher than I think, but "constraints" always seem to be part of the hype. Unfortunately, they usually prove true.

Agreed. Web traffic will be small fraction of the i6 launch and Apple has probably improved their capacity even more in the last few months. The iPhone launch teaches them stuff that they can't learn otherwise. So they make changes. This launch is going to be way less.
Inventory is the key issue. Apple will probably be conservative in the SS model. And the edition should be in very limited quantities. Apple will want there to be a wait list for the edition for the first month or so.

I'll probbaly but six of he 42mm black sport models using 2 credit cards. Sell 5 of them at a conservative markup of $50, I make $250, bringing my watch down to $200 ($450 with tax minus $250) #

You may have to enter both your Apple ID password AND your security code but I think that if you're already logged in on the app, you should only have to enter your security code.

Apple handled the 6/6+ introduction pretty well. I doubt the watch is going to overload things. You got to remember that you watch is using your phone for most of its functions, a phone that is already on the network.

I disagree. Like many others, I could not get through for over an hour, and even then the delivery dates had slipped a month (iPhone 6 Plus). I think the tech press has this major league wrong and there will be a huge uptake weekend one - far beyond Gene Munster's 1,000,000 units.

I might agree. When I heard that you can not go and get a watch opening day, it tells me there could be a inventory problem. We will know when preorders/delivery dates start slipping at 10 minutes afdter orders started.

This is not going to be a normal Apple Introduction. Oh well, I am waiting for a while if ever before my purchase. Too in love with my watches and I question how I will feel about the AW after owning for a few weeks. I feel I would have buyers remorse and toss it in a drawer to never be worn again!

Will the site handle the traffic?

All I can say is.... I hope so. The iPhone 6 crashed apples site for 3 or 4 hours if I'm not mistaken. I had my iPad,iPhone 5S and my desktop all trying to get in and couldn't.

Now I know this watch isn't as popular right now,but I'm hoping they are preparing for worst case scenario. Clearly they didn't with the iPhone 6.

I'd like to wake up,order and be back in bed in 12 minutes, but we'll see.

One more dumb question. If I click on a model that says available for delivery on the 24th and get it into the cart but it takes me 5 minutes to fumble with payment is it possible my availability date might change or is it kind of mine once it is in the cart?

No i dont think so. Putting it in the cart does not reserve you a watch. Its only once your order has been accepted that you are in the queue

i see apple getting most of its business from its employees. they get 50% off the sport/stainless steel models

A non-issue until the Watch becomes as popular as the iPhone.

Totally agree. The iPhone is a proven product and people will fall over themselves to get the latest version. Many are not convinced yet about the watch, though. I bet a lot of people are on the fence until they actually see it in real world use.

Knowing my luck I won't get my watch until late May, June, or July. But I'm fine w/ that knowing that it will be delivered to my house and don't have to wait in line or fight with the crowds at the apple store.

They have 66,000 employees in the US, and I'm sure less than 80,000 total. So no, the employee sales will be a fraction of the total sales.

It'll crash and burn. I'll blame you guys. :p

Get to bed! All of you!
