I love my X but the biggest drawback for me has been that it acts like a "regular" iPhone instead of a Plus version. No landscape rotation on the homescreen, as well as numerous apps (the iOS Twitter client is especially annoying in only having a portrait mode).

Have there been any indications that this will change with a proper "Plus" version being released?

I am confused, thought the Plus versions of the phone had landscape rotation on homescreen and many apps since the 6+?

Its almost guaranteed the X Plus will offer landscape mode. This seems to be the most likely ‘Exclusive’ feature this model. Which I never used often for the Plus models, but its still to nice to have the option than not.

I am a weirdo, I admit. I prefer texting in landscape, for instance. I do most of my stuff on my phones in landscape. No idea why!

I thought I’d be the same but it turned out I use my devices in portrait mode mostly. Still, good to have the extra option which I’m sure will be coming to some of the new devices.

I think some were expecting the X to have it since it had a larger screen.

The diagonal was larger, but the actual point width of the screen (for drawing the UI across) is the same as the non-Plus iPhone 6/7/8. Looks like the larger Xs iPhone will have the same point width as the 6/7/8 Plus iPhones.

Despite Apple’s measurements, the X doesn’t really have a larger display than a plus sized iPhone in a practical sense. Definitely not in terms of width, which is what you need for a usable landscape orientation.

iPhone Xs plus size is only 0.7 inch larger than iPhone X, which is not majorly larger and a big deal. Please stick this to your mind.

Might as well it’ll basically be an iPad mini mini.
Hence, iPad mini will not be updated.

Can you measure the length and width of an item? If you can, you will notice 0.7 inch is not that larger significantly.

I didn’t intend that to be meant as a larger screen than a plus just larger screen in general from a non plus iPhone.

The new watch isn’t remotely close to .7 inches bigger, but the display is substantially larger.

.7 inches can be pretty substantial when you’re talking about someone around 6 inches to begin with. The Plus size phones are noticeably larger than the standard iPhone counterparts.

Thanks for the responses. This is pretty much what I expected but wasn't sure if it had been confirmed or not.

What exactly do people use their iPhones for in landscape when not playing games? I never understood it. I’m just curious to know. I tried it when I had a 7 plus and it wasn’t comfortable in landscape and I didn’t see the use for it.

I read websites and books in landscape because the lines of text are longer.

Calendar sometimes.
