user friendly means they're easy to use.. they moreorless lock in place, you don't have to push in hard or keep the things aligned as with phillips or slotted.. you're much less likely to strip the head or the tool.. you're much less likely to damage surroundings.. they can't really slip like that.

they're also big.. much bigger than they need to be for holding in the parts.. that's so you're hands can grab them easier.

they're also a standard screw and the screwdrivers for them are readily available.

like i said.. i went to the shop, bought a gpu for a 2006 mp, was sold that, and it works fine.

If I recall correctly, Apple advertised both HD 5xxx upgrades as compatible with younger MacPros (5,1? 4,1?) only, while in fact they are perfectly compatible with every single cMP out there.
They don't want to sell upgrades, they want to sell new machines.

Probably want to back off from that statement. I just read through various OpenCL and Metal documents and see if I completely misunderstood things but apparently, I was right. They don't work each other. Metal borrows a lot of functionality from OpenGL n OpenCL in graphics and compute but doesn't mean they will work under Metal.

Yes, you are right. All what Apple did was creating API for external applications that will combine commands from both of those languages. One single, simple solution for everything: games, professional applications.

The problem is this: its primitive solution in comparison to other, that are on the market. At least at the moment. It can evolve into something better, the question is: will it?

So let me ask you (because I really don't know): Is there any way that we'll be able to get around the disposable Mac scenario? I've hot-rodded my Mini and I've got the Thunderbolt-multi-SSD all set, but the cMP, nMP, and nnMP is what is troubling. Is external GPU via USB-C and/or Thunderbolt going to let FCPX, Adobe, and Avid users just buy and get back to work? That's why I've been asking about things like what Boxx is making. I missed the boat on the 2012 cMP, but now? I'm a studio-dude that runs mostly Pro Tools and some Vienna Strings stuff, but sometimes I have to edit video and I know that the Mini isn't going to last with me heating up that HD4000. Please advise. There are a lot of others like myself reading this thread. Please and thank you. 🙂
