I really want a Macbook Air - but the bezels are way too huge currently compared to the Dell XPS 13.
Also the Macbook Air is too heavy compared to the XPS 13.

If they can improve these 2 things I'll buy it right away.

I'm really curious about the "M2". Apple is obviously ahead of the curve and the M1 is a fantastic chip, however, if the M1 was from last fall, and we see the iPhone and iPad normally receiving a new chip every year, why can't this be the same case for Macs? One of the big reasons Apple is dumping Intel is to have a more aggressive chip roadmap, so sticking to a 2 year refresh cycle wouldn't really be an improvement from the status quo. This is just me dreaming, but I'd hope to see an M2 for the "baseline" Macs and the "M2X" for the Macbook Pro and other Pro Macs that they choose to update this fall.

I wouldn't mind default RAM or storage configs being available for a lower price, but that's usually not a page in Apple's playbook, so I'm not holding my breath.

If there is a product overhaul next year, then that's when I think we'd see new colors.

I'm not sure I see Apple flat out ignoring the Macbook Air this fall, but because the new models are rumored for next fall, that almost makes me think we'll see very modest improvements to hold us over.

The economies of scale don’t favor an annual refresh. Apple sells an order of magnitude more iPhones than Macs. It’s over half a billion dollars to design a 5nm chip.

I have a 2017 MBP, I'd go for a MacBook Air if it went to 14" or 15" but I doubt that will happen so I will probably grab the upcoming 14" M1X MBP.

For those of you interested, Apple offered me $950 for my 2018 15" Macbook Pro as a trade in. I got the credit in the form of an Apple Gift Card. I know Apple trade ins are sometimes not that great, but considering mine sat on Swappa for almost 2 months, and the average selling price of a similarly equipped used MBP was $1000-1100 (before fees shipping, which amounts to $100 in total), this was a good dea.

I can now buy a refurbed MBA for $850 and have money left over for AC+ or accessories. Not bad for a "free" upgrade and opportunity to downsize.

Really hoping for an Air update on Monday but can't see it happening and maintain the same starting price point unfortunately. Can see a pattern moving forward where the Air CPU upgrade is after the Pro models.

I would be surprised if the Airs are updated this year, so a refresh is probably 5-6 months away
Supply chain rumors hint at Q3 2022 for a redesign, so it’s either a minor refresh this fall for some sort of update one year later, or no update for 2 years. I think the former is more likely, but we’ll find out soon. I don’t think there will be an update in 5-6 months.

Welp. With the M1 Pro and M1 Max being revealed, there will not be an M2 this fall. Looks like M2, M2 Pro and M2 Max next fall.

I'm really, really happy. I was worrying I'd get very delayed buyer's remorse (I bought the M1 Air in June) at seeing amazing new dirt cheap Macbooks (those colourful, flat ones with white keyboards will be called 'Macbook' – don't @ me).

Wish I could replace that excuse for a camera, that's all.

I'm selling my current MBP now because I don't want it's resale value to tank more when the new Apple Silicon macs come out. So I guess I'll just have no Mac for a while. Not buying last year's model and chassis at this point. Or I guess maybe pickup the entry level MBP if it's cheap enough? I just don't really need that much power.
LOL, I sold mine yesterday. Took about 5 weeks listed on Fakebook Marketplace, with countless thieves wanting it shipped or low ballers offering half of my asking price. In the end I could only get 20 dollars more than what Apple themselves was willing to give me on a gift card for my MBP M1.
Currently using my wife's MacBook Air M1.

Indeed. Fortunately for me I don't stare at the bezels when using the MacBook.

It doesn’t make sense for Apple to release the M2 any time soon after having just released the M1 Pro/Max. It would confuse consumers and makes the M1 Pro/Max relatively less powerful. I think the complete Mac line up will be upgraded to the M2 (Standard/Pro/Max) in fall 2022 along with a redesigned MacBook Air, high-end iMac and Mac Pro. This marks the completion of the 2 year transition to Apple Silicon. From that moment on all Macs will share the same update schedule and will be updated every year or every 2 years.

I think we see it in early 2022. White bezels and keyboard sadly like the 24" iMac. But I do believe it will be crazy thin and light.
