Will there ever be a new large iMac (Pro)?

I'm not going to say it won't happen, but they literally put expandable RAM on the Mac Mini last revision when they could've easily soldered it on.
Unles it uses LPDDR, then it has to be soldered since LPDDR doesn't come on DIMMs

My current iMac is a 2012 model, i will very likely only care about ARM on MacBook for many years as that is a 2015 model for me and ill gladly upgrade once they get rid of the godawful design it has right now.

NO redesign and just a ****** spec bump I think I'll wait for October to see what ARM brings and then will decide. At this stage I feel more like getting ARM mac mini + XDR display. I'm sure it will cost the same as this new ****** iMac :-D
That Mac Mini AS is going to be one of the most intriguing new Macs.
It could finally deliver on the idea of a 'xMac' that many covet. (I'm talking severe carnal Mac Big Love. Lust inducing frenzy...)
Imagine something that blows away the current 27 inch iMac flagship...(not that hard...apology that it is...) for a more eat my hand as payment £1050 that you could plug into a £5k XDR?
Cheaper than a specced iMac Pro (which I believe it will also outperform.)
50-100% greater performance puts us way past any Intel Mac on sale. The gpus are mostly medicore or rubbish. So that won't be hard either.

Apple had the chance to get higher Mac sales. Offer more affordable Macs. They've been on this glacial 'iPad is the only computer you'll ever need...' schtik for the last ten years.
The recent 'scenario' is just one of many where I don't feel they've capitalised on their Jewel in the Crown MacOS. They've missed chances to take Mac sales to 6 million and reach for the 7 million. But they were happy sitting on their profits for old rope. They've not been aggressive enough.
Maybe they will be with AS in their Mac. Maybe the consolidation around the iOS market will rocket fuel the Mac forward. But they'll still need to be more affordable than they are now to break that 4-5 glass ceiling they put themselves in.
They put their products into a design cul-de-sac of their own Ive or making. Blaming Intel is one measure. But they also have to look at themselves in the mirror. Apple were in charge of design. You now can't buy a Mac desktop for under £1k. That's still alot(!) of money to alot(!) of people. The desktop they will give you under £1k has no k/b or mouse or decent gpu. Crap.
The put better cooling in the 3 year old iMac Pro and consumer iMacs still(!) don't have it. £5k to have decent cooling. But they'll happily take money for new consumer iMacs when the components fry. Or charge you a fortune in store when the Mac you bought goes 'wrong.' The debacle of the Mac Pro tells its own story. As does the hubris defying crap (!) laptop keyboard: an RSI monster of klaKK noise.
Apple held themselves to a higher standard by the grace of Jobs.
And they need beating with the book of Jobs (hard cover...) when they don't get it right.
Tim Apple is supposed to be a supply chain guy. Where is the 'new' iMac. Why does it take 1 year and 4 months to offer an updated model with last year's gpu tech'?

From what prosser said everything got messed up due to covid and this iMac should have long long been out. I feel certain Apple is aware of the issue and is trying to make the best of it. The ARM announcement was kinda bound to WWDC and the coming product pipeline also should be set in stone.
...7 months into the year and the Mac releases have been anemic.
I agree that the iMac should have been long out.
They could have re-cycled the old iMac Pro shell and just put consumer 8-10 core in it...with 5700xt variant.
1.5 trillion and they seem to have no plan b.
At least 'a' leaker is saying 'very, very soon.'

I don´t think they will be able to deliver to my birthday even if it's up for order this week.
CoinX also had the iMac as soon. Prosser just told about the messed up schedule due to covid. If it's CPU or GPU missing i guess it's hard to have a plan B.

He was lacking attention. So he popped this morning with something random, imprecise, just to get attention. This is ridiculous. What retain him to say ”iMac will be shipped on this date” if he knew it ? F*cking nothing. So he doesn‘t have a freaking clue of what he is talking about.

I've been calling them out kind of on Tweeter. Maybe these prophets are right, who knows. But they give cryptic crap all the time and the one you're mentioning sounds really fake.
And while Intel is planning their "big" announcement about 10 nm Tiger Lake TSMC is getting ready for releasing 3 nm in 2022. I think Apple will be crushing Intel: https://appleinsider.com/articles/2...in-2021-paves-the-way-to-2020-mass-production

I agree, I feel these guys have no clue and just try it each time to see what will be correct. So yeah, I think he is full of crap especially how he positions it.
He wants to milk this cow for as long as he can. A lot of other leakers were pointing to Sep/Oct timeframe so I've decided to believe that. It aligns with a lot of things so thats what I chose to believe.
If it arrives tomorrow then I guess we won't get RDNA2 or even redesign or basically anything that good. So yeah, I'll wait. 2 more months won't kill me and as it will be so close to also AS announcement it will give me the opportunity to evaluate what I like better. Overall win for customers.
Imagine buying tomorrow and then in Oct the 24" arrives and it will be so much better that the only thing you would have extra is the 27" screen. Imagine how pissed off a lot of people would be. So yeah, Lets all get in fall and decide.
At this point I might be tempted with 24" if its really amazing with the A14 chip
or juicy mac mini? Imagine that! If A12Z can do what they presented then I'm sure A14 proper AS in Mac Mini will be the mini version of Mac Pro. The money you save will be put towards XDR so perhaps getting both together might be not that much expensive than iMac Pro. (or beefed up iMac) - which in reality will be much better value as the XDR stays with you but the mini can be resold each year and re-bought with better internals. Win win win
Of course I wouldn't do that every year but it would be an option. So A14 then A16 or A17 (so selling Mac mini still with Apple care left) and getting better and better powerful computer.
On the other hand, the one worry I have now is that if the new iMac design is pretty much big iPad then I would also assume that they might release miniXDR display with the same design. More for consumers kinda thing.

Only those of us who are really in need of a new computer should buy it. And I insist on really.
Otherwise, just wait for the Apple Silicon model. It will worth a lot more waiting for the new platform than buying a dead-on-arrive model.
Don't want to tell you what to do, but just think at it well enough before buying a "new" iMac ("" are important).

Completely agree, unless one truly and urgently needs it then waiting for the first AS to be out to see what Apple is starting to offer will be very important for buying decisions. (more lengthy response few post up)
