All the consoles etc. will be getting it. I'm sure Apple can get it too. Released in Sep so Oct/Nov can work for Apple to do an update. :)
But i wonder if the cooling in an iMac is adequate for RDNA2. The PS5 is gigantic for cooling reasons supposedly.

You are from MTL, right?
So where is a good coffee here, please?

And yeah Tim is just another chain. I was just joking :)

LOL

Tim hortons is not Canadian anymore I think.

And their hot chocolate is disgusting. 🤢 Been a while I didn't go to a Tim Hortons ... wow.
Chocolat Favoris has a lot better hot chocolate with real chocolate !

Let me doubt ................
Negative Nancy!

It would be to any computer maker (except apple). They design things to satisfy themselves not the components they use... Utter muppets.

@Azrael9

Enjoy your RDNA 2, I will be holding out for AS and RDNA 3 ;) It also appears they will be on 5nm...

I’m on the North Shore. Mascouche! I’m a banlieusard! I try to avoid the island as much as I can 😂 Been studying at ÉTS for 6 years, commuting 3h a day in train or bus/metro. It’s enough 😅

Oh I see what you mean. I used to commute in London 1 hour to work and 1 hour back. It was crazy especially on Picadilly line - awful.
Then work got me here and I walk to work. 15 mins (22 in the winter with a lot of snow) and its awesome.

I don't think I would want to go back to commuting crazy so I totally get you even though I don't know where your place is :D :D :D

Have we we had enough iMac chat for the day? Going back to discussing countries and regions? haha

Anyway, night everyone! Look forward to reading the next 6 pages when I wake up.

I don’t know how you can live downtown or on the island. I hate this place. Too crowded, everyone is stacked on each other... yeah you are close to work, but this is not my lifestyle. I largely prefer suburbs for their tranquility. I have a small land but a woodland behind the house. Not a sound on the evenings and nights. Big terrasse, 2 parking lots and a garage. I’m owner of my house contrary to the crazy price I couldn’t afford downtown (easily twice the price I paid just because you are downtown). God bless teleworking for 2-3 days a week!

Oh and Mascouche has been founded by English people. A lot of british history in this town!!! Big sections of the city are still inhabited by British descendants (Mascouche Heights, Garden Drive and around). Some houses were built with the British architecture. It’s very noticeable! We have english schools too. British descendants can put their kids in these English private schools. Unfortunately I’m french descendants and I won’t be able to send my future kids in these schools :(

The road next to mine is “Chemin des Anglais”, or British Avenue ahah

Sounds like I have found the road I’d live on, if I had to move to Canada!

Well, to me Montreal feels like a village to be honest. Its super tiny. Remember, I've lived 13 years in London so to me this is chilled.
I'm also too young (or feel young) and without kids to be thinking about suburbs. What you described sounds awesome but I wouldn't be able to have that as we are just 2 (me and my partner) so a house is a lot of work etc.
We also don't have a car and even if we did, commuting to work (my work is by Rosemont tube station) would be a tragic waste so I live close to the tube station and I walk to work.
I wouldn't live in downtown as I don't like city centers too much. In London I lived in Chiswick and Richmond and those that know the area know why its a good balance. Nature, chic and 'family friendly' (even if I don't have a family).
So yeah, your lifestyle will probably come to me once I multiply myself in mini mes. :D :D :D
Hehehehehe

Ahah !
I grown in the countryside of Quebec city. Neuville (One of the firsts towns in Nouvelle-France), Pont-Rouge... I worked in the sweet corn 🌽 fields my entire youth. Living on the island is inconceivable 😂.

In my town you notice the British descendants.
*The accent 😍😍😍😍😍😍*

Europe wide availability moved a week closer, with not being 18th anymore but Tuesday 13th suggesting a reveal on Wednesday august 12th. (or a full restock and no new machine for month and month xD)

USA availability had been Aug 11 on Monday, Aug 12 on Tuesday, and Aug 13 earlier today (Wednesday). But checking now it’s Aug 6th, so they bumped it up a week. It’s hard to know if it means anything at all.

If the Intel iMac is getting delayed, it's not because Apple wants to delay. Apple has every incentive to release it as soon as is humanly possible. Why? A very simple but extremely compelling reason - they need as much time to elapse between the last release of an Intel iMac and an AS iMac.

Think about it. How awful would it be, if a new Intel iMac just came out and you bought an it because you just needed an iMac desperately (many are in this position, such as Azrael), and then a week later the AS iMac came out?? You'd be mighty angry.

However, if you bought a new Intel iMac that just came out today, and the AS iMac came out 6 months later, that's a little better, 8 months better still, 1 year almost acceptable, and 1.5 years later, you're cool with it.

Now, Apple wants to also come out with the AS iMac as soon as possible, to make the transition as quickly as possible, and they have a hard deadline of 2 years, so that's not much flexibility on that end as to when the AS iMac comes out, so the only way to make the gap between the Intel and the AS iMac as large as possible is not to push back the AS iMac, but to come out with the Intel iMac as soon as possible!

Therefore, unless Apple is forced to wait for Intel's latest chips or AMD's videocard, otherwise the update is gonna feel super lame, I predict the release of the Intel iMac is imminent. It's going to happen very, very soon.

But if they're forced to wait on Intel and AMD, then yeah, it'll be ready when those two are ready - and really, it has nothing to do with Apple, who can only release stuff that's available, not vaporware.

And there you have it.

(1)A lame Intel iMac is coming out very soon - early August, maybe even next week

OR

(2)A better specced Intel iMac is coming out when Intel and AMD have the goods, which is generally about the October time frame.

Hope I cleared it all up for you guys. At least now you know what to expect and when. You can thank me now, or later, but I've spoken the absolute truth, that's unassailable.

Oh, and like I argued from day one - THERE WILL BE NO RE-DESIGN OF THE INTEL iMAC!!!

I have spoken!

You still track this after months of knowing it doesn't indicate anything? :-D

You, once again, are not paying attention. It is in store availability wich "for month" said "not available for pickup" and since Sunday says a clear, same day, date for every machine.

That is probably not an indicator either.

Also, just checked, the 9th gen model is ready in October - lol :)

I agree and see what you’re saying. It’s worth noting that the anticipated AS iMac (which many speculate has slipped to winter from fall) is the ’lower’ tier version. That is to say, it’s rumored that the first AS iMac will be the 24 (upgraded from the 21), while a full size AS iMac wont follow until late 2021 or early 2022.
