Just got this but stupidly forgot to double check this would fit...

Dont want to put it into my imac but just want to check it would be compatible as an external hard drive?

    Its a WD Caviar Black WD6401AALS - Hard drive - 640 GB - internal - 3.5" - SATA-300 - 7200 rpm - buffer: 32 MB

Any good or is it worth flogging on? only cost £30...

    Thanks :)

Yes, any HDD will work as external HDD if you use a USB or Firewire enclosure.

Links to guides on how to use Disk Utility, the application Mac OS X provides for managing internal and external HDD/SSDs and its formats.

Western Digital Caviar Blacks are one of the quickest HDD's you can get. They are also very good quality. I have 3 WD Caviar Blacks. Im very happy with the performance and so far none have failed or had any problems.

You can go on google and read some reviews.
